May 2012 -
Can you solve the Mystery or will you have to
wait until May? |
|
|
|
With
the new year comes a new clue as to what the May Mystery
Merit Badge class might be. Scouts
will be able to earn this new badge if they
sign up for and attend the (2012) May
Mystery Merit Badge weekend. (the merit
badge will be revealed sometime in March)
but until then here are some hints:
October's hint was: Scoutmaster Bucky
can promise you that you do not already have
this merit badge
(Yes it will be official and No it is not
the Chess Merit Badge)
November's hint was: The only place
anywhere in the world to earn this merit
badge in May 2012 will be at this
Scoutmaster Bucky May Mystery Merit Badge
weekend.
(It will not count towards your required
number of merit badges for advancement)
December's hint was: While the subject
of this merit badge may seem
evasive,
it really is just a matter of choosing
whether to use "in
- e" or "out
- e", and
you'll be halfway there.
January's hint is: Plants and animals
will be the subject at hand as you work and
educate on both water and land.
Check back each
month to get another "hint". |

Blue Cards
- Comprehensive Merit Badge Application (Blue
Card) Instruction Guide |
|
|
|
Nothing
creates more questions here at Scoutmaster
Bucky than Blue Cards. I searched and
searched and while the Internet holds a lot
of useful information, there is not a whole
lot of detailed information available for
Blue Cards
Scoutmaster Bucky is proud to offer the
first comprehensive Merit Badge Application
(Blue Card) Instruction Guide - aka How
to Fill Out a Blue Card.. This document
is a guide for both Youth Scouts and Adult
Scouters and Merit Badge Counselors alike.
The guide was put together to help all
parties involved in the handling of Blue
Cards to understand each others
responsibilities and roles in the process.
(Click

to Fill Out a Blue Card Document).
Let Scoutmaster Bucky know what you think.

Scoutmaster Bucky Workbooks and Scoutmaster
Bucky Class Preparation Pages are published
as a courtesy
to Scouts partaking in these events.
These documents take a significant amount of
time to develop and are being worked on
vigorously. No guarantee is made that
each class will have one or both of these
available by the date of the class, however
Scouts are still
expected to prepare by reviewing the merit
badge pamphlet and the badges requirements
to assess on their own any preparation work
they might consider vital to their class
participation success |

Congratulations
to Nathan D from Troop 516 in Coon Rapids.
While his official induction date is nearly
a year ago, it's better late than never.
Nathan is the latest inductee into the Scoutmaster
Bucky Eagles' Nest. Nathan is a regular
participant and anyone attending the
Scoutmaster Bucky events regularly will
undoubtedly remember Nathan. His smile
is infectious and his Scout character and
spirit are second to none. Nathan has
attended numerous Scoutmaster Bucky events
and even recently was seen helping lead a
portion of the Nuclear Science Merit Badge
class. He has
numerous merit badges on his sash that he
started or completed at these Scoutmaster
Bucky events. It is a pleasure to have
got to know Nathan and his family over the
past few years. Nathan exemplifies the
character and perseverance of a Scout.

To be honored as a Scoutmaster Bucky Eagle, a
Scout must partake in 11 or more Scoutmaster
Bucky merit badge opportunities AND attain
the rank of Eagle as well as invite Scoutmaster
Bucky to the Eagle Court of
Honor. Scouts whom have already
attained the rank of Eagle may be welcomed
to the Eagles Nest after completing 11 or
more Scoutmaster Bucky merit badge opportunities and attaining
their 1st Silver Palm.

Excerpt
from 1918 Electricity Merit Badge Examination |
|
|
|
"There
is only one rule in the world, and it applies to all
professions, and that is that you are expected to 'make
good'. No excuses are allowed in this school of life,
and the only way to make good is to keep faith. This
the reason I like the idea of the Boy Scouts - because of
their secure notion of being responsible to society.
They are responsible to the people who live around them - to
help maintain the standards of order and fidelity upon which
the community depends."

President of the United States of America |
